Anthony A. Fizzano Jr. "Tony" of Newtown Square formerly of Ridley Twp passed away on November 15, 2010. Tony was born in Ridley Township to Anthony and Helen Fizzano on August 3rd 1944. He attended St. James H.S. and later Pennsylvania State University. During his time at Penn State he was president of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and later enrolled in the Army R.O.T.C. program. Soon after his graduation in 1966 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served his country honorably in Vietnam as an engineer where he was decorated with the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation medals.
Upon his return from Vietnam he entered into the family business Fizzano Bros. Concrete Products Inc. founded by his father Anthony and three uncles Thomas, John and Joseph. In 1978 Tony was named president of the company, a title he held until the time of his passing. Tony devoted himself to the family business and the construction industry serving as President of the Pennsylvania Concrete Masonry Association and holding many positions within the National Concrete Masonry Association as well as a being a member of the legislative community of the General Building Contractors Association. A dedicated community leader Tony served on the Crozer-Chester Foundation Board of Directors and was a board member of Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association.
An avid golfer, Tony enjoyed his memberships at the Springhaven and Cedarbrook Country Clubs. A devoted family man, a gentleman to all and a silent philanthropist to many, he will be missed and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his children Anthony III, Tracy (Paul) Dougherty, Tia Fizzano and their mother Cheryl Fizzano and his daughter Cristina Fizzano and her mother Trish Davis, his grandsons Paul, Shane, and Ryan Dougherty and his sister Barbara Fizzano-Uebler. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Friday Nov. 19th from 10 – 11:45 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church 2400 North Providence Road Media Funeral Mass 12 Noon Int. SS Peter & Paul Cem.
