In Memoriam - Michael F. Iannelli
Dear NCMA Friends and Family,
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the untimely death of one of our industry's most passionate and committed individuals: Michael F. Iannelli. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 7 at the age of 63.
Mike was a long-time employee of Fizzano Brothers Concrete Products, Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania. He was an extremely active industry leader and was currently serving on the board of directors for the National Concrete Masonry Association. Within NCMA, he was the current chairman of its Education and Training Committee a position that he has held for five years. He recently completed a third term on the Pennsylvania Concrete Masonry Association Board of Directors and was its former President for two terms and was a Board Member of the Pennsylvania Fire Safe Construction Advisory Council. At PCMA, he was involved with numerous committees especially relating to Education. He was also highly engaged in the Delaware Valley Masonry Institute, where he was Chair of their Promotions Committee.
He was a strong advocate for the role of concrete masonry as a building material. As a lifelong student of the construction building industry himself, he provided exceptional leadership in encouraging others within the industry to also invest in their own professional development for the betterment of themselves, their companies, and the collective industry of which they are a part. He was a personal mentor to many through his personal interaction with co-workers, students, and colleagues. He felt compelled to productively challenge the thinking of those around him, inspiring them to pursue the greater objective.
Some of Mike's proudest industry endeavors included his support for the exposure of concrete masonry technology in an integrated manner with both the engineering and architecture students of Drexel University; creating a Concrete Products University branding for the professional development programs through NCMA; encouraging the migration of industry professional development to include distance learning through webinars and other tools; and building bridges to harmonize the efforts of the concrete block and hardscape segments of the concrete products industry.
The Iannelli family, the Fizzano family, and the extended family throughout the concrete masonry industry mourn his passing. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Nanette, his two children Mike and Dan and one grandchild, Josephine.
Funeral arrangements include a viewing at St. Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382 (intersections of Rt. 352 & Rt. 3) on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM. Mass will be conducted within the church beginning at 11:00AM. The family plans to host a luncheon following the Mass.
Condolences can be sent to the Iannelli family c/o:Michael Iannelli Jr., 413 College Avenue, West Chester, PA 19382
